Question on nVidia reference drivers and Creative Blaster TNT
I will try and clean out my nvidia drivers first and get some new ones and see how that goes. If not, add nvidia in your /etc/modules You should not need to have "nvidia" in /etc/modules. If you do then something else is broken. in any case the nv on my system and apt-cache search nvidia-installer gives nothing... Of course, anything that 'taints' the kernel makes the same inability to re-distribute the kernel -- which is why SUSE doesn't *include* the nVidia drivers but *does* allow the downloading of them. There are other programs/modules that taint the kernel, as well. If you're a purist, use nothing but Open Source stuff

Getting a Blue Screen with lots of code..then computer restart
I have myself, in fact, just been downloading the nVidia drivers for my Linux machine...otherwise, it defaults to a "generic driver" that has no 3D Well, if it's a "stable" release then it must work for someone out there...there was, indeed, nothing wrong with my Linux CDs when I had all my problems with it

Excessive mem usage with NVidia drivers
If your getting into that situation then the system will be having major problems, heavy disk thrashing for instance. The concept is that most apps ask for The Nvidia drivers will be allocating some RAM, but there will also be the AGP and framebuffers etc. That has nothing (directly) to do with process RSS.

I have this notion that a driver upgrade should be all-inclusive. By that I mean, if the drivers had to be modified to run Half-life, then modified to run Unreal, I will probably have to eat my words and get somthing along that line someday. Nvidia drivers, how to install properly?
I figured that it was caused by my hokey installation process, so I restored a clean HD image from CD which is just plain Win 98 SE and nothing else. I reupdated all the drivers, same result.
